Rich Black

Indirect Lending Sales Manager at Oregon Community Credit Union

Rich is a husband, father, grandfather, Navy veteran, musician, author, attorney, business consultant, coach, and speaker. A self-confessed lifelong learner, Rich has amassed – in his words – “more useless knowledge than any two people should need” but is nonetheless driven to continually bank more, on a wide variety of subjects. Much of Rich’s free time is spent with family, but he also volunteers a good number of hours to church ministries, pro bono legal clinics, and sits on the board of a local foundation as vice-chair and General Counsel. His leisure activities include travel, fishing, boating, flying, and woodworking.

Lending is a second career for Rich, having spent more than 30 very successful years in the automobile business in every role imaginable from detailer to dealer principal. In 2013 Rich was hired by his current employer to revamp their Indirect Lending program so it would be more competitive in their local market, and eight short years later it is the second-largest credit union Indirect Lending program in the nation (by loan volume). Closer to home, it is now the top Indirect Lender in his employer’s home state of Oregon against all competitors, is closing in on top spots in neighboring Washington and Idaho, and has targeted continued organic growth for the future.

Rich is often asked to share methods to successes in the automotive and Indirect Lending space, and in response penned a “how to” guide entitled “How to Build a World-Class Indirect Lending Program, Everything You Need to Know to Dominate Your Market”, available on Amazon Kindle or paperback – now in its Second Edition.
