John C. Redding is a co-leader of Alston & Bird’s Consumer Financial Services Team and regularly advises banks, auto finance companies, private equity firms, servicers, and debt purchasers and collectors on regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters involving the CFPB, DOJ, FTC, and other state and federal regulatory and enforcement agencies. He is regularly engaged to advise clients on credit reporting related issues, including representing them in supervisory, investigative and enforcement proceedings.
As an in-house attorney, John served as general counsel and associate general counsel to several financial services and software companies, where he managed large-scale litigation and supervised regulatory compliance, loan origination, servicing, and debt collection matters.
John’s combination of in-house and broad financial services experience allows him to identify operational and regulatory risks and ways to mitigate those risks. John has been at the forefront of numerous industry-standard-setting enforcement matters, finding creative solutions to complex issues.
John is a frequent speaker at industry events and author on a variety of consumer finance related matters.
